Built for students, so we ask for as little as possible

BYC is free and exploratory. This page explains in plain words what is stored, what is never asked for, and how to remove your data.

You can use BYC without an account

The career quiz, your result, your report, your share card and every course and career page work without signing in.

We never ask for a phone number, your school, your address, your age or your marks.

What happens when you take the quiz

Your answers stay in the web address of your result page. If you are not signed in, they are not stored anywhere by BYC.

If you choose "Save my report" while signed in, your answers and report are saved to your own account so you can reopen them later.

What an account stores

Only your sign-in email (or your Google account email), a display name if you have one, the courses, careers and pathways you save, the reports you save, and the skills and projects you choose to track.

Nobody else can see your saved items or reports — not other students, and not through a shared link.

What your share card contains

Only your explorer label and the areas you want to explore. It never contains your answers, your name or your email.

The image is created on your own device. It is not uploaded to BYC.

Counting, not tracking

BYC counts how often a page is opened, how many quizzes are finished and which words students search for, so we know which guides to write next.

These counts are not linked to a named student and are never sold or shared.

Deleting everything

You can delete your account at any time from My BYC. Deleting removes your saved items, tracked skills and projects, and your saved reports.

You can keep using BYC afterwards without an account.
